TOPIC: NEGOTIATION

Negotiation can be defined as a process where two or more people reach an agreement through discussion
and compromise.
SITUATION THAT MAY NEED
NEGOTIATION
- LACK: Lack of funds to finance the family can lead the head of the family to borrow money either in cooperative or from friends; this will lead to negotiation on how to refund such money
- SICKNESS: Chronic disease can lead someone to negotiate
- Need to deal with pear pressure
- Need to attend spiritual programs in church
- Need to pass an examination
- Need to participate in team game
STEPS IN SUCCESSFUL NEGOTIATION
- State your position: analyze what you want or need
- Have a listening hear:
always listen to other people’s view or position - Investigate other people’s need or want
- Re-state other people’s need or want to be sure you understood
- Brainstorm a win-win solution that will work for both of you
- Agree on a situation
- Get an intermediary who is an adult to intervene when physical force is involved
