Voters’ Responsibilities
The responsibilities of voter are some of the following:
- Reject all forms of gratifications before voting for a candidate
- Be a vigilant and an enlightened citizen
- Reject corrupt political party and electoral officers
- Be disciplined and have self control
- Enlightened others who may not know the truth about the dubious politician.
- Do not vote twice
WEEK 4
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS FOR ELECTION
In Nigeria , before a citizen is qualified to contest for a political office or vote for someone, he/she must satisfy the following condition.
For Contestants
- You must be a legitimate citizen of Nigeria.
- You must be 25 years of age or above.
- You must be a person of good character.
- You must be an educated person with at least secondary school certificate. However, it varies from one political office to another.
- You must belong to a registered political party.
- You must pay your tax up to date
For voter
- you must be 18 years of age and above.
- You must be registered during the registration process.
- You must be a legitimate citizen of Nigeria.
- Detainees are not allowed to vote during elections.
