\n<\/strong>TOPIC: CARE OF FAMILY CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD LINEN<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0Household linen is a term used collectively to include a variety of textile articles used in the home. A good supply of household linen is a very necessary item in the home; they are expensive and require good care.<\/p>\n

\u00a0TYPES OF HOUSEHOLD LINEN AND THEIR USES<\/strong>
\n\t\tA. CURTAINS AND DRAPERIES<\/strong>: These are fabrics or materials used for decorating our doors and windows. Curtains can be light or heavy, opaque or transparent.
\nUses of Curtains and Draperies<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    They shade the room from excessive light and wind.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  2. \n
    They beautify the room by adding colour to it.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  3. \n
    They provide privacy for family.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n

    They establish the character and mood of a room.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \u00a0B. BED LINEN<\/strong>: Includes all the different types of fabrics materials used to make the bed. They are: <\/p>\n

      Mattress covers used for covering the mattress in order to protect it from dust and dirt\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n

      Bed sheets used for making the bed\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n

      Pillow cases used for covering the pillows\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    4. \n
      Bed spreads used as spread over a made bed and as a covering for the person lying on the bed\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n

      \u00a0C. TABLE LINEN<\/strong>: refers to all clothes and mats used on the table. They include;<\/p>\n

        Place mats used on the table for setting cover. The cover refers to the place set for one person on the dining table.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n

        Table napkins used during meals for protecting your dress and for wiping the mouth and hands\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n

        Tea clothes used for wiping or cleaning the table.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        \u00a0D. BATHROOM LINEN<\/strong>: they are made up of <\/p>\n

          Bath-towels used for wiping the dry after bath\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n

          Face-towels; these are smaller than bath towels and they are used for cleaning the face.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Hand towels used for wiping and drying hands\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
          2. \n
            Oven gloves or cloths; they are often padded and used for taking out hot pans and dishes from the oven or top of the cooker.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n

            Dish clothes are non-fluffy clothes used for wiping off spills on kitchen surfaces\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
