A syllable must have a vowel sound in it e.g I \/ai\/, are \/a:\/<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<strong>TYPES OF SYLLABLES<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div><strong>Monosyllable words: &#8211;<\/strong> These are words of one syllable e.g. I, are, we, my, pet etc.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div><strong>Bi-syllabic words:<\/strong> &#8211; These are words of two syllables e.g. about, again, desist, expand, observe etc.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div><strong>Tri-syllabic words: &#8211;<\/strong> These are words of three syllables e.g. library, infection, agreement etc.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div><strong>Words of four syllables: &#8211;<\/strong> These are words that are made up of four syllables e.g. Education, Practically, Explanation\n<\/div>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0<strong>Contrasting Consonant \/P\/ and \/T\/ Initial, Medial and Final Positions<br \/>\n<\/strong>A consonant sound is a speech sound that is produced when the air that comes from the air stream passes through the hungs and comes out from the mouth with an obstruction.
