It also refers to man&#8217;s mental and physical exertions generated in the process of production.<br \/>\n<strong>Features of Labour<\/strong><br \/>\n\t\t(i)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Labour is also one of the factors of production<br \/>\n(ii)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Human efforts can be intellectual or mental, manual or physical, provided it is directed towards the production of goods and services.<br \/>\n(iii)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Labour is mobile and has feelings and cannot be used anyhow.<br \/>\n(iv)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Labour exists in three kinds; these are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div><strong>Skilled Labour (White Collar Jobs): <\/strong>highly educated and technical to provide the expertise for farm operations.<strong><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div><strong>Semi-skilled Labour: <\/strong>Averagely educated to perform simple farm operations.<strong><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div><strong>Unskilled Labour: (Brown Collar Jobs) <\/strong>These are illiterates that provide<strong><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>(v)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The unit of labour is man-hours or man-days.<br \/>\n(vi)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The reward for labour is wages and salaries.<br \/>\n(vii)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It converts natural resources into usable products.<br \/>\n(viii)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It is a variable asset.<br \/>\n(ix)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Its size and quality influence production or output.<br \/>\n(x)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Its output can be improved by training.<br \/>\n<strong>Forms of Labour available to the farmer include:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div><strong>Family Labour<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/div>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div>This refers to the labour provided by the man, his wife and children, i.e, the farmer&#8217;s family).<strong><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>It involves the head of the family as the operator\/manager.<strong><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>He organizes the family labour by himself.<strong><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>He assigns job to each member of the family.<strong><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>This is the major source of labour available to the farmer and it is very cheap.<strong><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div><strong>Personal Labour:  <\/strong>This is the labour provided by the owner of the farm.<strong><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div><strong>Communal Labour: <\/strong>This is the kind of labour provided by neighbours and the community.<strong><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div><strong>Hired or Paid Labour<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/div>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div>This is the kind of labour that is paid either daily or they receive salary at the end of the month.<strong><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>It is common where a farmer has large farm size.<strong><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Hired labour is engage either in a permanent or time-rated basis.<strong><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>The farmer pays for each labour.<strong><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>It is not readily available;
