\/>\n<\/strong><strong>A<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Plantation (Mechanized) Agriculture<\/strong><br \/>\n\t&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It requires commercial cultivation in which products are mainly for sale.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It requires a large area of land.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It usually involves the cultivation of perennial crops like cocoa, rubber, oil palm etc and is practiced mostly in the south.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The products are mainly raw materials used by processing industries.<br \/>\n<strong>B.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Subsistence Agriculture<\/strong><br \/>\n\t&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Produce from subsistence agriculture is mainly for family consumption.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It requires a small area of land.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It involves the cultivation of many crops at a time i.e. mixed cropping.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Food crops like maize, cassava, yam, etc are mainly grown.<br \/>\n<strong>C.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Mixed Farming<\/strong><br \/>\n\t&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0This system involves the cultivation of crops as well as the rearing of animals on the same piece of land.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Crops mainly grown are rice, maize, yam, cassava, etc while animals reared may be cattle, sheep, poultry etc.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It usually requires small area of land which is intensively cultivated.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It is usually very close to urban centres where produce can easily be disposed of.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It requires good transport network for easy disposal of products.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It requires large market.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Parts of the crops produced can be used to feed the animals while the animal droppings are used as manures.<br \/>\n<strong>D.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Intensive Agriculture<\/strong><br \/>\n\t&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0This can be referred to as market gardening or truck farming.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0This is mainly practiced in thickly populated urban areas.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It requires small area of land which is intensively cultivated throughout the year.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It involves the cultivation vegetables, fruits and flowers.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It also involves the use of fertilizers.<br \/>\n<strong>E.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Crop Rotation<br \/>\n<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0This involves the rotation of crops in sequence year after year so as to maintain the fertility of the soil.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a03 \u2013 5 different crops can be grown on the same piece of land but on different plots.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Deep rooted crops e.g. yam is followed by a shallow rooted crop like maize during rotation.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0A legume is always incorporated to add nutrients to the soil.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It also involves the use of fertilizer to improve the fertility of the soil.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Food crops are mainly produced.<br \/>\n<strong>F.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Shifting Cultivation<\/strong><br \/>\n\t&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It involves the movement of the farmer and his family from one piece of land to another when the land is no more fertile.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Simple farm tools and family labour are employed<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Forest resources are destroyed.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The land may rest for several years before it is put to use again.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Food crops are mainly grown.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Production is mainly for Farming<br \/>\n<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It is also referred to as nomadic herding.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It involves the rearing of only animal like cattle, sheep and goat.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It involves the constant movement of cattle and herdsmen called Fulanis from one place to another in search of pasture and water for the animals.<br
