Optical, acoustic, and mechanical.<br \/>\nThese include newspaper, and charts  <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<strong>WEEK 6\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>TOPIC: Computer Ethics<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>CONTENT<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n\u00a0<strong>Computer Lab Rules and Ethics \u2013 Concept Outline<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0I.  \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0You will do much in the labs during your years at Challenger.  In order that that those years be productive<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>You will learn the rules of conduct expected for the lab.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>You will know what the consequences of misbehavior are.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>You will learn about the ethics of software usage.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>You will learn to use the Internet safely.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0II.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Put all books and personal items on the shelves by the door when you come in the lab.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>There&#8217;s not enough room at the computers for any personal material except your paper and pencil.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0III.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0You must be working on <em>your<\/em> project at all times.  You are not allowed to be in here to &#8220;play&#8221; on the computers, there is work to be done.<br \/>\nStudents may not<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>Change the desktop in any way.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Change the screensaver.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Delete, move, or rename any files.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Install any software downloaded from the Internet or any other source.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Open personal e-mail accounts.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Install or open chat programs such as Instant Messenger.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Use computer games such as Solitaire, Minesweeper, etc. without permission from the teacher.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While it is possible to have fun, if you are caught not working on the the assignment, it will be considered <strong>computer misuse<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0IV.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0There is no food, drink, or candy allowed in the lab please enter the lab with clean hands.<br \/>\nTreat the computer with respect:<br \/>\nHands off the monitor<br \/>\nGentle use of the keyboard and mouse (Leave it on the pad, please)<br \/>\nTake care when handling media.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0V.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Use good posture while sitting at the computer (eyes level with the monitor, shoulders down, arms relaxed, feet flat on the floor, back supported).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0VI.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Obey all regular classroom rules.  Policies &amp; Procedures of your regular classroom teacher are in effect here just like the classroom.  Do your own work; don&#8217;t disturb your neighbors.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0VII.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0What happens when the rules are broken?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>1st offense:Student is removed from computer for the remainder of class period and will write an explanation of misconduct or misuse.  Student will be responsible for repair or replacement.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>2nd offense:\n<\/div>\n<p>Student is sent to In-House Suspension for remainder of class period.  It is up to the classroom teacher&#8217;s discretion if the student can make up missed work.  Student will be responsible for repair or replacement.\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>3rd offense:\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Student has no more computer lab privileges.  Student will be responsible for repair or replacement.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0VIII.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Etiquette means manners: be polite, have respect for other&#8217;s property just like they should have for yours.
