There are many STDs that affect both male and female. The germs that causes STD could be protozoa, fungi or viruses<br \/>\nIn Nigeria, syphilis and gonorrhea are common. Majority of the STDs can be cured if treated early, but AlDS cannot be cured once a person has been infected.<br \/>\nHIV means human immune-deficiency virus<br \/>\nAIDS means acquired immune deficiency syndrome<br \/>\n   DEFINITION OF HIV<br \/>\n       HIV- Human immunodeficiency virus [HIV] is a virus that lives in the human body and produce new copies of itself. It does not lives in a lower animals ,insects or water. It lives within the host and multiply.<br \/>\nA virus is a very small germ that cannot be seen with the naked eyes. Once HIV gets into human body system it cannot be removed.<br \/>\n       [Human immune deficiency virus] causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome [AIDS]<br \/>\n    HIV attacks the immune system,weakens it and exposes the body to infections. HIV is detected through the anti-bodies present in the body of the affected person<br \/>\n      DEFINITION OF AIDS<br \/>\n[AIDS] acquired immune deficiency syndrome, is a condition when the immune system In the body of a person has become weak or in effective given to  a development of signs  and symptoms [called syndrome].<br \/>\n    When this happens, the doctors might decide to perform series of test for HIV.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0   SIGNS AND SYMTOMS OF AIDS<br \/>\n1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Coughing for more than one month<br \/>\n2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Itching skin itches, swollen glands at two or more sites<br \/>\n3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Tiredness, fever that has refused to go away<br \/>\n4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Rapid unexplained weight loss<br \/>\n5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Diarrhea [on and off or all the time]<br \/>\n6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Prolonged malaria<br \/>\n7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Loss of appetite<br \/>\n8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Blisters on the mouth or private parts <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0    MODES OF TRANSMISSION<br \/>\n1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0through unprotected sex<br \/>\n2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0through infected mother to her baby<br \/>\n3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 through sharp cutting objects e.g.  Knifes and razor blades<br \/>\n4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0through infected blood<br \/>\n  WAYS AIDS CANNOT BE SPREAD OR TRANSMITTED<br \/>\nAids cannot be spread or transmitted when you participate in the following<br \/>\n1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0through eating<br \/>\n2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Handshake<br \/>\n3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Sharing clothes<br \/>\n4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Swimming<br \/>\n5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Sleeping with family members or others in the same room<br \/>\n6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Sharing plates and cups<br \/>\n7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Sharing toilets and bedrooms<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WAYS OF PREVENTING HIV\/AIDS<br \/>\n1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Avoid sex before marriage or refuse sex outside marriage<br \/>\n2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Do not share needles or syringe with anyone<br \/>\n3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Accept a blood transfusion only when the blood has been tested and decleareded safe from HIV<br \/>\n4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Avoid sharing razor blades or other skin cutting objects e.g. nail cutting ,tribal markings ,dressing and circumcision<br \/>\n5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Always make use of hand gloves while treating a patient injury<br \/>\n6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Attend hospital for testing and counseling if you are worried about AIDs<br \/>\n7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Attend clinics and hospitals for testing and counseling if you are worried about AIDS especially when planning to marry<br \/>\n8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Do not be pregnant if you are an HIV\/AIDS patient<br \/>\n9.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Wear plastic gloves when treating a patient injury<br \/>\n10.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Treat and cover with a waterproof dressing any wound sustained by the patient with AIDS<br \/>\n11.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Provide persons living with AIDS spiritual counseling and pray for them<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0         EFFECTS\/CAUSEQUENCES OF CONTRACTING HIV\/AIDs ON AN INDIVIDUAL<br \/>\n1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Weakens the body cell<br \/>\n2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Damages the body system<br \/>\n3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Causes untimely death<br \/>\n4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Damages the nervous system<br \/>\n5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Doesn&#8217;t allow the body to fight infections in the body<br \/>\n6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Brings about chronic diarrhea<br \/>\nAssignment<br \/>\n                         1.
