TRASPORT BY LAND \u2013 this is the movement of people and goods from one place to another either by road or railway. Transportation by land its divided into two:<br \/>\na. Transport by road \u2013 means carrying of goods and people from one place to another on road e.g motor vehicles. Trailer, buses, carts, bicycles etc.<br \/>\n<strong>Advantages of Road transport<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div>It is flexible because it provides door to door services\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>It can reach all parts of the country\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>It is easy to load and unload\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Disadvantages of Road transport<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div>Loads carried by road transport is limited\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>There is high incidence of breakdown and delay\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>It creates congestion and traffic on the highway\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>b. Rail Transport \u2013 it&#8217;s a means of carrying heavy goods and passengers form one place to another by train. The train tracks connect several northern, eastern and western states.<br \/>\n<strong>Advantages of Rail Transport<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div>It is more reliable\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Its accidents are minimal\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>It is good for transporting heavy goods\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a02. TRANSPORT BY AIR \u2013 is a means of carrying goods and passengers from one place to another with the use of plane, jet and helicopters. It is the fastest means and most comfortable.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<strong>Advantages of Air Transport<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div>It is the fastest\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>It facilitates international trade\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>It is used to carry fragile and perishable goods\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>It can travel long distance\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Disadvantages of Air Transport<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div>It is very expensive\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Its safety is questionable i.e. high rate of accident\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>It is not suitable for carrying heavy goods.\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>It is not flexible\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>3. TRANSPORT BY WATER \u2013 is a means of carrying goods and people from one place to another on water with the use of speed boats, canoes and ships.<br \/>\n<strong>Advantages of Water Transport<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div>It is the cheapest\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>It facilitates internal trade\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>It is good for conveying heavy loads e.g. containers\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Disadvantages of Water transport<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div>It is very slow and time wasting\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>It moves on schedule\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>It is not flexible, it can only move on water\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>4. TRANSPORT BY PIPELINE \u2013 is a means of transporting liquids and gas.
